
The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating a fatal shooting that took place in Southeast, Washington D.C. The incident, which claimed the life of an 18-year-old male, occurred on Tuesday evening in the 300 block of K Street.
According to a press release by the MPD, officers from the First District were called to the scene at approximately 6:44 p.m. yesterday. Upon their arrival, they found Dontay Smith suffering from an gunshot wound. Tragically, despite the efforts of DC Fire and EMS personnel who responded to the emergency, Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
Dontay Smith, the deceased, was a resident of Southeast, D.C. The police are reaching out to public in an attempt to gather information that could lead to an arrest. The MPD's call to action is clear: anyone with knowledge of the incident is encouraged to come forward. The MPD has put forth a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case.
