Evolv Technologies is set to handle stadium-wide fan screening at Miami Freedom Park, the new 25,000-seat home of Inter Miami CF, the company announced Feb. 24. The plan calls for Evolv Express Gen2 walkthrough units at the main entrances and Evolv eXpedite autonomous X-ray bag scanners for added checks. The systems are expected to be live for the stadium’s first match on April 4, 2026, when Inter Miami hosts Austin FC.
In a press release distributed via Yahoo Finance Singapore, Evolv was named the stadium’s official fan screening provider, with Express Gen2 units slated for the gates and eXpedite taking on autonomous bag screening. The release adds that Evolv will have an in-venue brand presence on match days and a year-round footprint across the stadium’s digital channels. John Baier, Evolv’s vice president of sports and entertainment, described landing Miami Freedom Park as a marquee addition to the company’s portfolio, according to the statement.
What the new gear does
Evolv Express is an AI-powered, high-throughput weapons detection system that lets fans walk through without stopping, while Evolv eXpedite is an autonomous X-ray bag screener designed to run alongside it. Both feed alerts and operational data into a single interface, giving security teams one dashboard to manage crowd flow and triage responses. Evolv has emphasized the scale of its deployments, saying its systems have screened more than 3 billion people since 2019, according to Evolv.
Faster gates, fewer stops
The company pitches Express as significantly quicker than traditional metal detectors. Its materials cite throughput of roughly 3,600 people per hour and say integrated analytics help venues keep lines moving and avoid backups, according to Business Wire. That “street to seat” approach is one reason sports and entertainment venues have been signing on for the tech. How aggressively the tools are used in practice still comes down to each operator’s local staffing and screening policies.
Stadium and opening plans
Miami Freedom Park is planned as a 131-acre mixed-use complex centered on a 25,000-seat stadium, a 58-acre Jorge Mas Canosa Park and more than 1 million square feet of retail and office space, according to the project’s website. Operators are planning phased openings starting in 2026, with the stadium scheduled to stage Inter Miami’s April 4 home match in its debut season, as reported in recent coverage. construction progress reports have noted that the complex is being positioned as a year-round entertainment hub for locals and visitors, not just a game-day destination.
Why venues are signing up
For Evolv, Miami Freedom Park extends a push into high-profile sports sites that the company has flagged in recent earnings commentary and regulatory filings. Those investor updates have pointed to growing adoption of Express Gen2 and eXpedite and framed marquee stadium deals as central to Evolv’s growth strategy, according to the company’s investor statements and earnings transcripts. The combined Express and eXpedite setup is marketed as a layered, cloud-connected checkpoint that cuts down on manual bag checks while serving up prioritized, data-driven alerts to security staff.
Specific match-day logistics such as how many gates will use Express or eXpedite and where exactly checkpoints will sit were not included in the announcement. Inter Miami and the site’s operators are expected to share detailed fan entry guidance closer to opening. This story will be updated once the venue releases its instructions for the inaugural matches.
