A passing trucker took a stray round to the head earlier yesterday when shots erupted outside a 24-hour club near I-35 and Loop 410, turning a routine drive into a close call on San Antonio's East Side. The bullet grazed his head after hitting his cab, sending club patrons and nearby drivers scrambling as police rushed to the scene.
According to Fox San Antonio, the shooting started around 7:10 a.m., when two people got into an argument in the club's parking lot. That dispute escalated fast, with more than a dozen shots fired. Investigators told the station the trucker just happened to be driving past when one of those rounds hit his vehicle and grazed his head.
Stray rounds put bystanders at risk
San Antonio has seen this kind of danger before, where people far from the conflict suddenly find themselves in the line of fire. In July 2025, KSAT reported that a woman was hospitalized after a stray bullet hit her while she was driving under Loop 410, a reminder that rounds fired in public do not always hit their intended targets.
Police seek witnesses and video
Detectives are now working to piece together what happened in the club parking lot and are asking anyone with information, photos or dashcam video to come forward. The San Antonio Police Department continues to warn that bullets fired into open areas can travel long distances, and its website lists a non-emergency line for tips. Police told Fox San Antonio they are following leads as the investigation moves forward.
