Allen residents with a soft spot for acai bowls are getting a new option on the north side of town. Playa Bowls is lining up a 1,177-square-foot shop at 1480 N. Custer Road, Suite 150, with state construction records pegging the tenant fit-out at about $225,000 and aiming for a late February finish.
The project is listed on the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation’s TABS portal as “Playa Bowls 121 & Custer,” with Four Corners Retail named at the site and Megan Weis identified as the tenant, according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The registration calls for a Feb. 28 completion date, confirms the 1,177-square-foot build-out and an estimated $225,000 fit-out, and lists Four Corners Property Company as the owner of the center.
What Playa Bowls Will Serve
Playa Bowls bills itself as a superfruit-bowl concept built around acai, pitaya and coconut bowls, plus smoothies, cold-pressed juices and New Orleans-style cold brew, according to Playa Bowls. The brand highlights fresh fruit and mix-and-match toppings that can fit vegan and gluten-free diets. Many locations also feature a Playa Rewards loyalty program and catering options for local events.
Nearby Locations And Timeline
The Allen construction filing was first spotted by Community Impact, which notes that Playa Bowls already operates a shop in Southlake and has another project lined up for McKinney. A separate TDLR entry for that McKinney location places it at 3200 South Stonebridge Drive, Suite 104, and shows a different build-out schedule, according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Chain Growth And Local Demand
Industry reporting indicates Playa Bowls has grown into a national player with more than 300 shops and a busy development pipeline, a growth clip that has moved the concept into Texas suburbs, according to Nation's Restaurant News. That expansion helps explain why franchisees are targeting neighborhood shopping centers and quick breakfast and lunch traffic in communities such as Allen.
There is no public grand-opening date for the Allen store yet. A TDLR completion date signals when construction is expected to wrap, not when customers can start ordering bowls. This story will be updated once the tenant, the landlord, or Playa Bowls announces an opening date or the site shows up on the chain’s official store list.
