Constable deputies and emergency crews rushed to the park, where medics began treating the victim before taking him to a hospital. Investigators quickly secured the area and began speaking with witnesses as they pieced together what happened.
In a Facebook update from Mark Herman, Harris County Constable Precinct 4, officials said deputies were dispatched to the 7200 block of Augusta Pines Parkway East after a caller reported that a basketball backboard had fallen on a male, causing serious injuries. The post noted that EMS was on scene actively treating the victim and that the incident appeared to be accidental. Precinct 4 asked residents to avoid the area while deputies and medics worked.
