The blaze began around 5:30 a.m., and firefighters evacuated residents while EMS treated the injured on the street. Three people sustained minor injuries and declined hospital care, while two others were evaluated for more serious injuries.
As News 12 Brooklyn reported, the fire began in the basement and worked its way up through the building. Close to 80 firefighters and EMS personnel responded to the scene to battle the flames.
