In a thorough sting operation that would make any Bostonian's head spin, detectives from the Boston Police Department Special Investigations Unit and District A-7 Drug Control Unit (East Boston), joined forces with the United States Postal Inspection Service – culminating in a significant drug and firearm haul. According to a recent press release from the Boston Police Department, the investigation unveiled that a network used the postal service to ship cocaine from Puerto Rico directly to Boston's doorstep.
On Tuesday, detectives executed several search warrants in East Boston, all backed by the authority of the Suffolk Superior Court. Through surveillance and controlled delivery of a suspect parcel, the team apprehended their quarry, Anny Perdomo-Santana, age 35, of East Boston. The unopened parcel in question contained about 2,000 grams of a white, rock-like substance which tested positive for cocaine base, as mentioned in the Boston Police Department's report.
In the aftermath of the successful raid, authorities seized an arsenal of drugs and weapons. The bounty included a 9mm semi-automatic firearm with a high-capacity mag, approximately three and a half kilograms of fentanyl worth over a million dollars, and two and a half kilograms of cocaine estimated to carry a street value of $150,000. The search also unearthed numerous pills, drug packaging materials, and a range of electronic devices.
Perdomo-Santana is now facing a slew of charges, including trafficking in Fentanyl and cocaine, each over 200 grams, along with multiple firearm-related offenses. In a case, where medical concerns were noted, another individual was summoned to court on charges of cocaine trafficking over 200 grams.
