San Antonio started Wednesday on a crisp, calm note, with temperatures near 52°F at Kelly Field and a north-northeast breeze already stirring things up. Skies stay mostly blue through the day, with a high near 68°F this afternoon. It will feel a bit cooler than the number on the thermometer thanks to the wind, but it stays dry. Tonight, expect mostly clear skies and a cooler low near 41°F, so evening plans are fine as long as you grab a layer.
Afternoon Winds Pick Up
North-northeast winds around 10 to 15 mph will hang around through the afternoon, with gusts that could reach 25 mph. That is enough to shove around lightweight patio furniture and kick up some chop on area lakes and rivers. The National Weather Service expects winds to relax to about 5 to 10 mph tonight as skies stay mostly clear. Drivers on open stretches such as I-35 and Loop 410 may notice the breeze nudging high-profile vehicles, but no major travel impacts are expected.
Weekend Warm Up
A ridge of high pressure builds in late in the week, nudging temperatures into the mid 70s by Friday and the upper 70s on both Saturday and Sunday. Some of the higher Hill Country spots could briefly dip into the low 30s early Thursday, while most of the metro holds a bit warmer, a quick shot of chill highlighted by the San Antonio Express-News. Rain chances stay low into the weekend, with only a slight chance of showers edging back in Monday night into Tuesday.
Bottom line: plan on sunny, warm afternoons and cool mornings. A light jacket should cover early dog walks or runs, and you can probably stash the heavier coat in the closet as the weekend approaches. Forecast updates will follow if those early-week shower odds start to climb.
