A retail theft on West Bluemound Road on Friday escalated into a police pursuit through Brookfield and onto I-94, ending near the Highway 100 interchange. Two suspects were taken into custody, and both a Brookfield officer and a civilian were injured and treated before being released.
Police say officers were called shortly after noon and later located the suspect vehicle at a shopping center, where it first reversed into a squad car. A second suspect then fled, allegedly hitting several civilian cars before officers stopped the vehicle and made another arrest, with charges to be sent to the Waukesha County DA, as reported by FOX6 Milwaukee.
Injuries and custody
In its statement to FOX6 Milwaukee, Brookfield police said "a citizen was injured by the fleeing suspect" and was treated and released at the scene, and that the Brookfield officer was treated and released from an area hospital. Police reiterated that both suspects remain in custody and that the investigation is ongoing.
