A Bushwick childcare center teacher has been indicted on charges of sexually abusing four young girls, according to Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez. Devonte Brown, 30, of Bedford-Stuyvesant, is charged with second-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, as well as multiple counts of sexual abuse and forcible touching. He was arraigned before Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Donald Leo, according to the District Attorney's Office.
Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez described the allegations as a severe breach of trust, noting that children placed in the teacher’s care were allegedly harmed. Brown was ordered held on $150,000 cash bail, or alternatively a $300,000 insurance bond or $500,000 partially secured bond, and is scheduled to return to court on March 27, 2026.
According to the investigation detailed by the District Attorney's Office, the offenses took place between April 1, 2024, and August 22, 2025, while the victims, aged 5, 5, 6, and 9, were under Brown's supervision. The alleged abuse occurred within the confines of the childcare center, where Brown is accused to have inappropriately touched the young girls over and under their clothing.
The severity of the case is heightened by allegations of an off-site incident at Brooklyn Bridge Park, Pier 6, where one child was reportedly abused. Brown is also accused of attempting to intimidate at least one of the girls into silence, warning they would lose their favorite teacher if they reported the abuse. The children later confided in their parents, who immediately notified law enforcement.
The prosecution of Brown is being handled by Assistant District Attorney Roxana Moussavian of the Special Victims Bureau, with oversight from Assistant District Attorney Miss Gregory.
