A multi-vehicle collision in Bensalem Township, Pennsylvania, claimed the life of a Brooklyn man and injured several others, officials said. The crash occurred in the early hours of Tuesday at the intersection of Street Road and the Interstate 95 interchange. Bensalem Police, fire, and EMS personnel responded around midnight and found a silver 2013 Chevrolet Sonic on fire with its driver ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Bensalem Police's Post, the Chevrolet Sonic, traveling eastbound at high speed, ran a red light and collided with a Dodge Journey exiting I-95. The car then went airborne, striking a Honda Accord waiting on westbound Street Road before coming to rest and catching fire. The Dodge and Honda drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Two passengers in the Chevrolet, Farruh Homidov, 43, and Askar Narziev, 39, were extracted in critical condition and transported to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital.
The deceased driver was identified as 44-year-old Timur Khabelov of Brooklyn. Authorities are reviewing intersection camera footage and investigating whether drugs or alcohol were involved. Updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
