Brooklyn authorities are investigating an incident in which two men are accused of taking a car with a 4-year-old boy inside. The event occurred near Bedford Avenue and Parkside Avenue on January 28. According to police, the boy’s mother had briefly left her 2024 Kia running when the vehicle was allegedly taken. The suspects reportedly drove it a short distance before abandoning it. Police say the suspects also took the mother’s purse, which contained a cellphone, credit cards, and nearly $400 in cash, according to PIX11.
Police confirmed that no one was injured in the incident and requested public assistance in locating the suspects. Individuals with information can contact the police through channels such as Crime Stoppers or the department’s mobile app. News12 Brooklyn reported that a witness described the situation as chaotic. Neri Meneses, a local bodega worker, said she heard the mother calling for help at nearby school doors and expressed concern for the mother’s distress.
The two suspects are described as young men, both estimated to be between 18 and 20 years old and approximately 5’7” tall. One suspect has brown hair and was last seen wearing a black jacket, black pants, shoes with white shoelaces, and a mask. The other is reported to have a short black afro and was similarly dressed in a black jacket, jeans, and shoes.
Police have increased efforts to locate the suspects and are asking anyone with information to come forward. Images and descriptions of the two men have been released to aid the investigation, and authorities are reviewing security footage to help identify and apprehend the individuals involved.
