Burien’s historic Three Tree Point Store is getting a serious caffeine boost. Q.E.D. Coffee is opening a new café inside the longtime neighborhood spot on Monday morning, Feb. 23, with doors set to open at 7 a.m. The Seattle roaster will kick things off with coffee and pastries during initial hours of 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The company lists the new café at 16957 Maplewild Ave SW on its official site and describes itself as a small-batch, neighborhood-minded roaster established in 2015. According to QED Coffee, the Three Tree Point spot will be the company’s third neighborhood café, joining its Mount Baker and West Seattle locations.
Greenfield’s Game Plan For Three Tree Point
Founder Matt Greenfield told The B‑Town Blog that talks about leasing the historic space started in September, with a lease signed by November. He said, “I really see this place as an all day meeting place, a little something for everyone,” and added that he hopes to roll out evening community events like trivia nights, wine tastings and possibly live music once the café is up and running.
Historic Bones, New Counters
Inside, Q.E.D. has tried to keep the soul of the old store while making it work as a modern café. The team installed new butcher-block counters, redesigned the front bar and carved out an extra room with window seats to help both workflow and seating. Greenfield told The B‑Town Blog that “little details that we didn’t need to do, but I wanted to do in order to make this place optimal” guided the renovation choices. He is also hoping to install a plaque explaining the vintage bicycle that hangs from the ceiling once he can track down more of its history.
What This Means For The Neighborhood
Q.E.D.’s arrival fits into a broader shift toward small local businesses in Burien. The city’s recent work on legacy storefronts and small commercial nodes has made it easier for historic corners to host neighborhood cafés and shops, according to The Urbanist.
