
Chatham County has announced a change in its leadership team. Carolyn Miller, who has served in county government for nearly three decades, has been promoted from Assistant County Manager to Deputy County Manager, reflecting her extensive experience and role in county operations.
Miller has long been a key figure in Chatham County’s leadership. According to County Manager Bryan Thompson, “Carolyn’s commitment to public service, her steady leadership, and her deep understanding of our organization make her uniquely qualified for this role.” She began her career with the county in 1996 and has progressed through multiple positions, gaining extensive experience along the way.
Miller’s progression through Chatham County’s government reflects her experience and dedication. Her roles have included Purchasing Agent, Human Resources Director, and most recently Assistant County Manager. She has also led the County’s internal Leadership Academy, where she has been recognized for developing future leaders and supporting the County’s efforts toward organizational improvement.
In her new role, Miller will continue overseeing departments including Human Resources, Aging Services, and Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources, among others. She will also take on additional responsibilities, helping to guide and shape countywide initiatives. The county’s leadership cited her experience and contributions as key factors in her promotion.
