Authorities identified the man who died as Zachary David Horn. He was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to WRAL. The shooting happened inside Park West Village near the Crumbl Cookies location, according to arrest documents reviewed by reporters.

Police arrested 55-year-old John Willis Fraizer III of Morrisville and charged him with murder and discharging a firearm within city limits, as reported by The News & Observer. Witnesses told reporters that patrons and staff stepped in to restrain the suspect after the shooting. “Another bystander actually helped me tackle him to the ground and then we disarmed his weapon,” Ruckus Pizza general manager Zek Silva told WRAL. Silva said he then went next door and applied pressure to the victim until EMTs arrived.
