
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is actively investigating a homicide that occurred in the Hickory Grove Division. According to an official statement released on the CMPD website, the incident took place on the 7400 block of The Plaza and was first responded yesterday, just before half past four in the afternoon. Officers had been called to the scene for an Assault with a Deadly Weapon event.
Upon their arrival, law enforcement found an individual who had been shot and ultimately declared the victim dead at the scene. A person of interest was taken into custody right there. The CMPD’s Homicide Unit, alongside Crime Scene Search, has since been at work to unravel the details of this case, gathering evidence and documenting the scene of the crime. Support services from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, MEDIC, and CFD were also present in a move to assist with the situation.
The department is continuing their investigation and are appealing to the public for any relevant information. Detective Carter has been assigned as the lead detective on this case.
