A shocking case of child abuse has emerged from Rowan County after a joint investigation by local sheriff’s officers and the FBI led to the arrest of a 33-year-old China Grove woman. Veronica Rose Yerry is facing severe felony charges stemming from the sexual abuse of an infant, according to a social media post by the Rowan County Sheriff's Office. The allegations are deeply disturbing, involving videos that depict sexual abuse unearthed during a separate FBI investigation.
An immediate probe was launched by detectives to quickly establish the authenticity of the appalling material. Their investigation confirmed the identities of both Yerry and the victim. A search warrant executed at Yerry's residence resulted in the seizure of incriminating physical and digital evidence. The suspect was later apprehended during a traffic stop close to her home, where the young victim was also found and safely transferred to the Department of Social Services.
Yerry's litany of charges includes felony child abuse, first-degree forcible sex offense with a child, first-degree sexual exploitation of a child, second-degree sexual exploitation of a child, crime against nature, and simple possession of marijuana. The Rowan County Detention Center is currently holding her without bond while the case remains active. Moreover, marijuana was found in the child's bedroom.
Any persons with information related to this ongoing investigation are being actively encouraged to come forward and assist the authorities. Detective Rayshawn Williams can be directly contacted at 704-216-8682.
