The Christ Hospital's main campus in Mount Auburn spent part of Tuesday morning wrestling with a problem that no hospital wants to see on the schedule: low water pressure. An electrical issue cut water pressure across the facility and caused a service disruption, forcing the network to delay elective surgical cases, physician office visits and classes at the Christ College of Nursing and Health Sciences until 10 a.m., according to hospital officials.
As reported by WLWT, The Christ Hospital Health Network said multiple services on the main campus were interrupted after an electrical problem affected the hospital's water-pressure system. The hospital told the station that teams were on site working on repairs and that services would resume once safe water pressure levels were restored.
Campus buildings and address
According to the network, the issue affected the main hospital, the on-campus medical office building, and the Christ College of Nursing and Health Sciences. The main campus is listed at 2139 Auburn Avenue, and contact and location details are posted on The Christ Hospital's website.
Operations delayed until mid-morning
In a statement to WLWT, hospital officials said the start of elective surgical cases, physician office visits, and college classes was pushed back until 10 a.m. while repair crews worked to get water pressure back to safe levels. Officials did not immediately say whether any patients or students would need to be rescheduled beyond the morning delay.
Context: past water concerns
While Tuesday's problem has been described by the hospital as an electrical issue, Christ Hospital's water systems have already been under a microscope in recent months. Local reporting last year detailed confirmed Legionella cases and an Ohio Department of Health review of the hospital's water system, according to Spectrum News. Hospital leaders previously said they had increased testing and installed filters while investigators worked to identify any potential sources of exposure.
How patients can get updates
Patients and visitors with scheduled procedures or appointments are being urged to check their MyChart accounts or call the main scheduling line at 513-585-2000 for the latest on delays and rescheduling, per The Christ Hospital. The network said it will share additional updates as repairs continue and normal operations are restored.
