
Concord, NC has recently been struck by a tragic event, as the Concord Police Department announced the arrest of Brandon Cortez Morris, Jr., a 19-year-old local resident. Following a shooting on Fairington Drive on Sunday, which left two dead and two injured, Morris now faces charges including two counts of first-degree murder, armed robbery, and discharging a firearm into occupied property, according to a social media post from the City of Concord Police Department.
The incident, which shockingly erupted late night at approximately 11:08 p.m., brought Concord Police to 1480 Fairington Drive NW, where four gunshot victims were found and in this tragedy Michael Harrison Overstreet, 22, and Kemauri Ziquan Blount, 19, both from Monroe, tragically lost their lives at the scene whereas the surviving victims were rushed to the hospital with the support from Cabarrus County EMS. Currently held in Cabarrus County Jail on no bond, Morris awaits the outcomes of what appears to be, a harrowed path through the legal system.
In their statement, the Concord Police have called this an "active and ongoing investigation," urging anyone with pertinent information to step forward. They have ensured the public that this case is being handled with the utmost diligence and encouraged contacts through the Concord Police Department number or the Cabarrus Area Crime Stoppers for anonymous tips.
