The Wisconsin State Patrol is accepting applications for new troopers until Feb. 15. Accepted candidates will begin training at the State Patrol Academy in Fort McCoy on July 12 as part of the 73rd Recruit Class, as per the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
Applicants must have a two-year associate degree or at least 60 college credits, though exceptions may apply for individuals with relevant training or military experience. The hiring process includes interviews, background checks, and physical tests.
Troopers may work in a variety of roles, including highway patrol, K9 units, aviation, crash reconstruction, and specialized units for human trafficking and drug interdiction.
A virtual information session will be held on Tuesday next week from 5–7 p.m. via Microsoft Teams. Applicants can also contact a recruitment coordinator at their nearest State Patrol region or visit the Wisconsin State Patrol website for more details.
