Two people sustained burns in a car fire in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood. According to the New York Police Department, the fire occurred shortly after midnight near West 177th Street and Cabrini Boulevard and was linked to a domestic dispute. Authorities reported that a 27-year-old man allegedly set the fire, which spread to a vehicle parked on Cabrini Boulevard, according to ABC7NY.
Firefighters arriving at the scene found the car fully engulfed in flames. The FDNY reported that a man with burns over his body was taken to Harlem Hospital, while a 27-year-old woman with burns on her hands was transported to Columbia University Hospital. PIX11 reported that both were in stable condition. The New York Fire Department has not yet determined the cause of the vehicle fire.
The domestic incident escalated when the woman attempted to intervene, resulting in burns to her hands. The man sustained burns over his entire body as the fire spread.
