Dunkin' is on its way to Universal City, with plans to tuck the coffee-and-breakfast favorite inside the Walmart Supercenter on Kitty Hawk Road, just down the road from Randolph Air Force Base. City officials say the shop will sit inside the store and is slated to open in late summer or early fall 2026, giving commuters and military personnel another quick grab-and-go option along a busy corridor.
According to Community Impact, Michael Cassata, Universal City's development services and economic development corporation director, said in an email that the city is "excited to have a staple in the coffee and donuts convenience market establish a shop in Universal City." The outlet reports the location as the Walmart Supercenter at 510 Kitty Hawk Road and repeats the late-summer to early-fall 2026 target for opening.
Part of a Wider Walmart Remodel Trend
The Universal City move is lining up with a larger Walmart pivot toward more in-store food counters across the San Antonio area. MySA reports that a Far Northside Walmart off Loop 1604 is adding an in-store Dunkin' as part of an interior remodel of about $215,000, suggesting the retailer's "store of the future" upgrades are bringing more grab-and-go counters to local locations.
What Shoppers Will Find
Once the Universal City counter opens, shoppers can expect the usual Dunkin' lineup tailored for quick service inside the store. Dunkin' lists hot and iced coffees, donuts, bagels, muffins, and breakfast sandwiches on its corporate menu, and similar Walmart setups typically stick to that fast, walk-up footprint.
Timeline and Next Steps
For now, the city has not released a firm opening date or details on hours and staffing. Community Impact notes only a seasonal window instead of a specific day. As construction planning moves forward, permit filings and announcements from Walmart and Dunkin' should tighten up the timeline, and a confirmed opening date is expected closer to late summer or early fall 2026.
