City crews are busy putting in a new Sun Metro Brio station at Dyer Street and Memphis Avenue, according to a Friday update from the City of El Paso’s Capital Improvement Program. Photos in the post show workers at the intersection and a temporary "Bus Stop Out Of Service" sign while the curbside platform takes shape.
The City of El Paso CIP post includes several construction shots and an OCRed image that reads "bus stop out of service." The update notes that once complete, the new platform will help Sun Metro expand Brio service between the NorthGate Transit Center and the Downtown Transit Center. There is no opening date listed yet, but the post underscores the stop’s role in boosting access along the Dyer corridor.
Where This New Stop Fits On The Dyer Line
The Dyer Brio corridor runs from the Downtown Transit Center to the NorthGate Transit Center and features a series of curbside stations along Dyer, according to the Sun Metro Brio site. Placing a platform at Dyer & Memphis gives nearby riders another place to board and should cut down the walk for people who previously had to head to the next Brio stop.
Transit Centers And Connections
Sun Metro's transit centers listing shows the Arves E. Jones Sr. NorthGate Transit Center at 9348 Dyer and the Bert Williams Downtown Santa Fe Transit Center at 601 Santa Fe are major transfer hubs for Brio lines. The agency has been gathering public feedback on service changes and station upgrades this winter, suggesting this new platform is part of a wider effort to fine-tune Brio service citywide, per Sun Metro.
What Riders Should Expect
The City’s update shows a "stop out of service" placard and crews working at the curb, so riders in the area should be ready for temporary boarding shifts while construction wraps up. There is no firm start date yet for passenger service, and officials are urging riders to watch the usual channels for information on detours and boarding changes.
Once it opens, the platform will be a modest but meaningful addition along Dyer that gives northeast riders one more boarding option on the Brio line. For updates on the timeline and any detours, riders can keep an eye on the Sun Metro site and the City’s Capital Improvement Program announcements.
