ClickOrlando reported that the blaze caused considerable damage to the building, leading to 13 people being displaced and three suffering from smoke inhalation. The incident, which unfolded along Whitney Way off Howell Branch Road near Winter Park, saw one apartment engulfed by fire and another affected by consequential water damage.
The unfortunate event prompted responses from local fire and emergency services. According to a WFTV report, the injured parties were rushed to a hospital with injuries deemed not life-threatening. Seminole County Fire Department emphasized in a statement that, while the residents were being treated for their injuries, the impact of the fire extended beyond the immediate physical damage to homes.
Compounding the catastrophe, neighboring units were left uninhabitable due to smoke and water damage, officials said, necessitating intervention from emergency management services. Seminole County Emergency Management, alongside the American Red Cross, swiftly steered in to aid the displaced individuals with their urgent housing needs, providing them with temporary shelter solutions in the midst of crisis.
