An 88-year-old woman from an assisted living facility in Brownstown Township was found deceased outside a local business. Police stated she had been out for a substantial time and inadequately dressed for the chilly weather, ClickOnDetroit reported.

Found on Sunday morning, at around 8:14 a.m., her body was discovered by a passerby outside an eye clinic, who then contacted authorities; first responders pronounced her dead at the scene, her extended exposure to the cold likely playing a role in the tragic event the body identified belonging to a resident of the Forest View Assisted Living Facility at 19341 Allen Road, according to the release CBS News Detroit noted. The Wayne County Medical Examiner's office is tasked with the autopsy.

Concerns over the facility's security measures have arisen, WXYZ reported, as it's known that the exits of the assisted living residence are meant to have alarms that prompt investigation into whether they were functional or not at the time of the incident "People live there in various conditions, some people can come and go, and some people don't," said Brownstown Police Chief Jeff Watson, "What the policy was related to her, that'll help us as the investigation goes forward."
