An Ellicott City man, Alexander Stephenson, turned himself in to the Howard County police following a domestic incident that left his estranged wife dead from stab wounds. The tragic event occurred yesterday morning, and law enforcement officials responded to an emergency call at around 8:13 a.m. in the 3400 block of Huntsmans Run, where 47-year-old Amethyst Stephenson was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Howard County Police Department.
Alexander Stephenson faces charges of first-degree murder and violation of a protective order. The details surrounding the violation of the protective order are unclear; however, Stephenson was apparently not residing at the location where the stabbing took place, signaling some degree of estrangement from his wife. Following the incident, Stephenson appeared at the police's northern district station to turn himself in and was subsequently hospitalized for non-life-threatening self-inflicted wounds.
Upon release from the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, Stephenson is to be booked into the Howard County Detention Center.
