According to a news release issued on Monday and cited by FOX8, the operation, which started on January 1 and ended last Friday, February 6, led to 30 arrests and the seizure of 14 firearms—two reported as stolen—and 3.75 ounces of illegal narcotics.
In a concerted, zero-tolerance initiative to confidently crack down on crime, disparate units of the police department collaborated, including the Detective Bureau, Neighborhood Impact and Narcotics units, and the Special Response Team. The sweep stretched over the cold winter weeks, oblivious to the chill, a testament to the department's commitment to combating criminal activities that do not cease, even when temperatures drop. "Cold weather does not stop violent crime, and it will not stop us. We remain relentless in our enforcement efforts, and nothing will stand in our way of protecting this community," Police Chief James Welsh declared in a statement obtained by FOX8.
The range of charges among those arrested is vast, including first-degree felony counts of trafficking and possession of cocaine, such as in the case of 35-year-old Andre Donte Lee, noted by The Chronicle. Lee, as per court records mentioned by FOX8, posted a $10,000 bond and is due back in court on February 10. Three minor girls were also charged with aggravated riot, but their names have been withheld due to their age, a decision to closely align with the sensitivity of juvenile privacy.
