Brookline officials are facing a flurry of questions after newly released federal documents tied to Jeffrey Epstein listed travel and financial records that include Dr. Gloria Rudisch, a longtime town director of school and child health services. The material references a planned visit to Epstein’s private island and an unsigned consulting agreement that offered Rudisch $50,000 to advise a foundation linked to him. Rudisch, who spent nearly 50 years in local public health before retiring from the town in 2021, has not been charged with any crime.
Town says review found no professional wrongdoing
In a statement to WCVB, Brookline officials said a review uncovered no evidence of professional wrongdoing and noted that using a municipal email account for personal matters goes against town policy. The town added that “These interactions were not discovered during the individual's tenure” and emphasized that the former employee has not been affiliated with Brookline for more than two years. According to WCVB, officials said they would have investigated any complaints had they been raised, and that Rudisch declined to comment when contacted.
DOJ files include itinerary and a contract draft
Records in the Department of Justice’s Epstein Library include an itinerary that lists Rudisch and her husband as scheduled visitors to Epstein’s private island, along with an unsigned consulting agreement that proposes a $50,000 advisory fee for work with an Epstein-connected foundation. Later paperwork appears to call off that arrangement. Reporters and researchers have been sifting through the millions of pages the DOJ released earlier this year as part of its public production. The department has cautioned that the files may contain duplicates, items submitted in earlier investigative phases, and materials that have not been independently verified.
Minsky's name and earlier allegations
Rudisch’s late husband, MIT scientist Marvin Minsky, was previously named in a deposition by Virginia Giuffre, who said she was directed to have sex with him during a visit to Epstein’s compound, an allegation his family has denied. Minsky organized conferences funded by Epstein and died in 2016. Coverage of the unsealed deposition and related court filings was summarized by outlets including The Verge.
What Brookline residents should know
Town leaders say their review turned up no evidence of professional wrongdoing, while acknowledging that personal emails sent from a town account would violate local rules, according to WCVB. At the same time, the Department of Justice has warned that inclusion in the public document trove, on its own, does not amount to proof of criminal conduct, given the volume of duplicated and unverified material. Residents who spoke to reporters said they want transparency if new information emerges, and town officials have indicated that no further action is planned for now.
