The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office has welcomed a new K-9, Titan, to its team. The office received over 1,000 name suggestions before selecting the Belgian Malinois, born on October 21, 2024. Sheriff Rick Staly introduced Titan in a social media post as the newest member of the K-9 Unit.
According to a Facebook post, Master Deputy Marcus Dawson will partner with Titan, following the loss of his previous K-9, Kyro, who died in the line of duty in October 2025. Titan was acquired from HBK-9 at no cost to Flagler County taxpayers, thanks to a donation from Dr. Caesar DePaço, his wife Deanna Padovini-DePaço, and Summit Nutritionals International, Inc.
Since 2015, the family’s philanthropy has provided 11 dogs to the sheriff’s office, contributing more than $120,000 in community value.
