The Michigan Department of State has put the brakes on a Flint driving school's operations following a wave of alleged regulatory infractions. On the Move Driving School LLC, located at 4050 W. Pierson Rd., is facing a suspension that puts its classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction on hold, as reported by CBS News Detroit. The Michigan Department of State cites that the preliminary investigation uncovered instances of non-certified individuals providing driver education, in addition to maintaining inaccurate student records and failing to adhere to teaching guidelines.
"The summary suspension is an emergency action to protect the public while MDOS continues its investigation and administrative proceedings," state officials detailed, in an evident bid to reassure the public of immediate safeguards. During the suspension, no classes or any form of instruction will be allowed, leaving students and families in limbo for the time being. State law delineates specific requirements for driver education providers. Providers failing to comply may face warnings, probation, suspension, or fines.
In tandem with the report, the Michigan Department of State issued a public notice about the punitive measures taken against On the Move Driving School LLC. The notice included details of the Driver Education Provider and Instructor Act (DEPIA) violations, which prompted the MDOS Driver Education Unit's summary suspension.
Students, or their families affected by the suspension, may seek assistance by reaching out to the MDOS Driver Education Unit for guidance, with the potential for redirecting them to alternative instruction options while matters are being resolved. Furthermore, individuals with grievances concerning driver education providers are encouraged to voice their concerns via an online complaint system.
