A routine ride to Waller Junior High turned tense when a Chevrolet Silverado hit a Waller ISD school bus carrying 17 students near Betka and Kickapoo roads, officials said. The crash happened around 7:10 a.m., and one student with minor injuries was taken to a hospital at a parent’s request. The pickup driver was also transported to a hospital for evaluation. The remaining students were moved to another bus and taken on to school, where district staff, including a school nurse and administrators, checked them out and contacted families.
Fog Blamed As Investigators Say Bus Likely Not At Fault
According to the Houston Chronicle, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said "slightly foggy conditions" may have played a role in the collision. Waller ISD chief communications officer Sarah Marcus told the Chronicle the bus "did not appear to be at fault" and said the district had notified families and was prepared to support students. Deputies were still investigating the wreck after 9:30 a.m., the sheriff’s office told the paper.

Waller ISD said its transportation and campus teams followed standard procedures, evaluating students at the scene and arranging a replacement bus so they could get to school while a nurse and administrators were ready to see them on campus.
