Heads up, drivers navigating through Forsyth County — your commute is about to hit a bit of a snag over the next few weeks. The N.C. Department of Transportation has just announced that repair work is going to temporarily put the brakes on traffic flow along U.S. 421 southbound. Starting tomorrow, the right lane and ramp between mile markers 227-228 will be off-limits as crews get down to the nitty-gritty of concrete repairs.
In a schedule released to the public — which was also posted on NCDOT's website — the closures are set to start tomorrow, at 9 a.m. and will stretch through to Wednesday at 5 a.m. Then, they are going to again close down the same stretch on Thursday at 9 a.m., running until Friday at 5 a.m. This pattern of closures will continue on the same days for three weeks straight, aiming to wrap up the work by the early hours of March 6, assuming the weather plays nice.
For locals and anyone planning to travel through this area, the department has advised to proceed with caution.
