Carmen's Italian Ice is bringing its frosty fanbase to Cabin John Village in Potomac, with the company aiming to open in late spring or early summer. The new storefront will slide into the shopping center's already busy mix of restaurants and shops and will feature the Rockville-born chain's lineup of Italian ices, frozen custard, gelatis and shakes.
As reported by The MoCo Show, the Cabin John shop is slated to sit inside the mall next to Colony Pizza and near Moby Dick. The outlet notes the store is expected to scoop up roughly 18 to 20 varieties of Italian ice and six to eight frozen-custard flavors, along with gelatis and shakes.
Menu and treats
The brand's website highlights Italian ice, frozen custard, gelati and shakes as its core offerings, with rotating and seasonal flavors cycling through the menu. Carmen's Italian Ice also operates trucks and catering services that supplement its brick-and-mortar locations.
Where it will sit
Cabin John Village is a long-running Potomac shopping center managed by EDENS, and its online directory shows a dense mix of food spots and retail. EDENS lists on-site tenants and a site plan that places several eateries clustered near the planned Carmen's location.
Roots and growth
Carmen's traces its roots to a Rockville storefront launched by Jason Mandler in 2001, according to company press materials. The brand has since expanded across Montgomery County, adding locations in places such as Olney and a Kensington shop that debuted in 2024, as covered by Bethesda Magazine.
The company has not locked in a firm opening date for the Cabin John Village store. The MoCo Show reports that Carmen's is targeting late spring or early summer for the launch. This article will be updated once the shop announces an official grand-opening date and hours.
