Emergency crews rushed the rider to a nearby hospital, but he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving. The crash unfolded in the early-morning hours and briefly shut down lanes through the busy intersection while first responders worked the scene.
JSO Sgt. Robert Hungerford told First Coast News that the collision happened around 1:10 a.m. A woman driving a Lexus was turning left from J. Turner Butler Boulevard onto Gate Parkway when her vehicle struck the minibike rider. Hungerford said the driver stayed at the scene and has been cooperating with investigators.
