An early morning dispute inside a Glen Burnie home turned into a shooting and brief standoff on Nancy Road, leaving a 57-year-old man facing an attempted murder charge and his family rattled, authorities say. Officers were called around 7 a.m. to the 1000 block of Nancy Road for reports of shots fired inside the residence. By the time police arrived, two occupants had already made it out, and detectives later executed a search warrant at the home and recovered evidence tied to the shooting.
Police say argument led to gunfire
According to Anne Arundel County Police, Northern District patrol officers learned that a male suspect fired multiple shots inside the house after an argument with a family member. Two female occupants got out safely before officers arrived, and officers then helped a third family member leave the residence. The male suspect was the only person still inside at that point. He later walked out of the home, and Quick Response Team officers provided medical aid after he sustained a serious self-inflicted injury. He was taken to a local hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Weapon recovered and charges sought
Detectives applied for charges, and a warrant was issued for attempted murder and related offenses. A subsequent search warrant at the house turned up a 12-gauge shotgun believed to have been used in the shooting, local reporting says. Eye On Annapolis reports the suspect is a 57-year-old Glen Burnie man. Authorities say he will be formally served with the warrant after he is released from medical care.
What happens next
Anne Arundel County detectives say the warrant will be served once the suspect is discharged, and that his name will be released at that time, in keeping with the department's statement. The investigation is ongoing, and the department is asking anyone with information to contact Northern District detectives.
