More than a month after 21-year-old Adam Pineda was shot and killed, a crowd in Humble lifted white balloons into the sky on Thursday, quietly demanding answers in a case that has yet to bring anyone into custody. Family members, friends and coworkers gathered at a roadside memorial and outside his workplace, turning their grief into a public call for tips, as reported by FOX 26 Houston.

Adam’s mother, Amber Razo Pineda, told FOX 26 Houston, "As broken as I am, it puts light in my heart; right now, this means everything to us." At Elliott Electric Supply, where Pineda worked, supervisor Deman Watson said the staff felt like they had lost a brother and wanted to stand with his family. Relatives and coworkers clustered outside the store for the balloon release, using the moment to honor Pineda and keep his case in the public eye.

Investigators Searching for Masked Suspects

According to ABC13, Harris County Sheriff’s Office investigators say Pineda was shot on Jan. 10 while sitting in his truck along the 8300 block of Vistadale Drive. Witnesses reported seeing four to five males dressed in dark clothing and wearing ski masks taking off on foot right after the gunfire. Detectives suspect robbery may have been the motive and are still working the neighborhood for leads. So far, they have not identified any suspects publicly or announced any arrests.

Workplace Memorial Draws Coworkers

Pineda’s coworkers chose the parking lot outside Elliott Electric Supply for the balloon release, creating a second memorial site tied to his daily life, FOX 26 Houston reported. His supervisor described the loss as the team losing a brother and urged anyone who knows something to step forward. The family has also set up a memorial closer to where the shooting happened, and investigators are focusing their search around that area.

How to Help Investigators

Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen something or heard something to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office homicide unit at 713-274-9100 or Houston Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477), according to ABC13. Tips can be submitted anonymously, and callers may be eligible for rewards. Investigators say they are reviewing surveillance footage from the area and hope that renewed public attention will help generate fresh leads in the search for those responsible.
