Today at a Novi apartment complex, it turned chaotic when gunfire erupted near Central Park Estates, leaving a 38-year-old Detroit man hospitalized with an arm wound while the shooter slipped away.
Witnesses told police they heard as many as nine shots ring out just before 10:30 a.m. in the 47000 block of Central Park Boulevard. Officers later described the shooting as an isolated dispute between two people and said the suspect took off before they arrived.
Novi police told FOX 2 Detroit that one man was hit twice in the upper arm and taken to a hospital following the barrage of gunfire. Despite the flurry of 911 calls, the department said there was no ongoing threat to the wider community.
According to ClickOnDetroit, the shooting unfolded near the Central Park Estates community at the busy Beck Road and Grand River Avenue corridor. The Novi Community School District pushed out a non-emergency alert and briefly placed some nearby buildings into “secure mode” out of caution. That outlet reported the wounded man went to the hospital under his own power after being struck multiple times.
Police did not immediately release a suspect description or say what sparked the confrontation, noting that the underlying dispute remains under investigation. As reported by FOX 2 Detroit, the injured man is a 38-year-old from Detroit.
Investigators have asked anyone with information or video from the area to contact the Novi Police Department as they continue canvassing for witnesses. ClickOnDetroit reported that officers were still searching the neighborhood into the afternoon.
