Houston-based halal supermarket chain Prime Bazaar is getting ready to roll into Sugar Land, with a new store slated to open this March at 18738 University Blvd. The market is expected to feature a full-service butcher counter and stock Indian, Pakistani and Mediterranean groceries, giving Riverstone-area shoppers another nearby spot for halal meat and specialty pantry staples.
According to Community Impact, the Sugar Land location is set for a March debut, following Prime Bazaar’s earlier expansion into Richmond and its shop near the Texas Medical Center.
Lease Signed At Riverstone District
In a press release, Hunington Properties confirmed it signed a 5,831-square-foot lease with Prime Bazaar at 18738 University Blvd. That landlord announcement offers the clearest public record of the tenant mix and space size in the center, along with a commercial timeline that lines up with the planned opening.
What To Expect Inside The Store
Prime Bazaar’s online shop and locations page highlight fresh halal beef, lamb and chicken, along with spices, rice and other pantry staples, and show butcher services at its Richmond and Houston stores. The setup suggests the Sugar Land market will follow the same formula. Prime Bazaar lists fresh-cut meat options on its product pages and includes a locations section naming its existing sites.
Riverstone’s Retail Backdrop
The Riverstone District, a lifestyle-focused retail center along University Boulevard, is outlined in a commercial listing on LoopNet as having roughly 41,486 square feet of gross leasable area, with several inline shops and eateries. That scale, paired with a dense nearby residential base, helps explain why specialty grocers and full-service butchers are considered strong fits for the center.
Opening Timeline And Where To Watch
Prime Bazaar has not yet shared a specific grand-opening day beyond the March target. Customers can keep an eye on Prime Bazaar or updates from Hunington Properties for an official opening date and any first-week specials.
