A Harford County woman has been charged with felony assault and firearms offenses following what Maryland State Police are calling a road rage incident in late January. Identified as 39-year-old Brittney Ledbetter of Belcamp, Maryland, the accused was arrested after allegedly brandishing a handgun at another driver on I-95.
According to the Maryland State Police news release, the confrontation occurred on January 31 on southbound I-95 near Maryland 24. The victim, who remained unharmed, reported that the suspect, driving a Buick Enclave, pointed a handgun at them. Following the accusation, Ledbetter was arrested last night, and charges including first and second-degree assault, a loaded handgun in a vehicle, and other firearm-related charges were levied against her.
Ledbetter was later brought before the district court commissioner and, consequently, was released on bond. The Maryland State Police conducted a search warrant at Ledbetter's residence, which resulted in the confiscation of a firearm. This arrest is part of the broader efforts by the Maryland Department of State Police, which aims to increase the safety of communities and address highway gun violence.
