Hotel Phoenix has officially checked into downtown Atlanta as the first major hotel to open inside Centennial Yards, rising 19 stories with 292 rooms, 15 suites and a penthouse positioned directly across from Mercedes-Benz Stadium and State Farm Arena. Billed as the hospitality anchor for the $5 billion Centennial Yards redevelopment, its ground floor is open to the public with a coffee bar, an all-day restaurant and a 32-seat cocktail bar. Inside, guests find a mix of Southern details and modern industrial design, with floor-to-ceiling windows aimed squarely at the stadium and skyline views.
Rooms, design and local art
Per a CIM Group press release, Hotel Phoenix has joined the Preferred Hotels & Resorts L.V.X collection and features bespoke guestrooms and suites in an autumnal, industrial palette with high-touch amenities. The developer highlights a focus on local connection, including commissioned artwork and a large custom lobby sculpture that anchors the entry sequence. “We’re proud to welcome guests to what we truly hope will become Atlanta’s favorite new hotel,” General Manager Martin Wormull said in the announcement.
Zephyr, Bar Z and the beverage program
The hotel’s on-site food and drink lineup centers on Zephyr Southern Brasserie and Bar Z, where French-influenced technique meets soulful Southern flavors and an all-day cocktail program. As reported by Atlanta Magazine, Executive Chef Carelys Vazquez, formerly of FORTH, leads Zephyr’s menu, which includes shrimp biscuits with avocado and maple syrup and a spicy fried chicken served with stone-ground grits, collards and house pickles. Local dining guides have already flagged Zephyr as a downtown pick this season, and Resy currently includes the brasserie on its roundup of Atlanta restaurants.
Event spaces, pool and rooftop plans
The hotel offers more than 15,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, including a ballroom of more than 8,200 square feet, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. A resort-style terrace lounge called Bless Your Heart, an outdoor pool and an event lawn are scheduled to open in the spring season, per the hotel's public materials. Together, the ballroom capacity and terrace activations position the property for weddings, corporate meetings and pre- and post-event crowds spilling over from the neighboring arenas.
What it means for Centennial Yards
Developers are casting Hotel Phoenix as a keystone in Centennial Yards’ effort to stitch the Gulch back into a broader entertainment and hospitality corridor, according to the developer’s announcement. The opening also adds downtown room inventory ahead of next summer’s FIFA World Cup matches at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, a demand spike noted by Axios. Local coverage also points to a community component: select menu items at the hotel will direct a portion of sales to Meals on Wheels to help feed seniors, according to Atlanta Magazine.
Booking and quick details
Reservations are open, and nightly rates have been reported in the high $200s range, depending on dates and room type.
