A reported burglary in north Harris County turned into a shootout and trailer standoff Saturday afternoon, leaving a suspect wounded and a neighborhood flooded with deputies and investigators. The man ran to a nearby trailer and barricaded himself, while other adults and several young children were at a second location, according to officials. Deputies later found the man with possible gunshot wounds and took him to a hospital in fair condition. No deputies were reported injured as Crime Scene Investigation personnel and detectives headed in to document what happened, as reported by Harris County Sheriff's Office.
What the Sheriff’s Office Says Happened
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said on X that deputies were dispatched to a possible burglary in the 14900 block of Sellers. “A male began firing at deputies upon their arrival,” the agency wrote, and deputies fired back in response, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
Kids Pulled to Safety, Suspect Taken Into Custody
According to HCSO, people at another nearby location included two adults and several young children. The adults came out, but “the suspect and children remained inside” a trailer in the 14900 block of Henry. Deputies then moved in, secured the children and took the man into custody. The sheriff’s post said he was found with “possible gunshot wounds likely from the earlier exchange of gunfire” and was transported to a hospital in fair condition, per the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
Detectives on Scene, Charges Pending
The agency reported that no deputies were hurt and that CSI teams and detectives were en route to process the scene. Potential charges are pending as investigators collect evidence and interview witnesses, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
