Hunt Valley is about to get a new spot for sauce-covered fingers and comfort food cravings. Arkansas-based chain Slim Chickens is set to open at 11300 York Road on Monday, Feb. 23, bringing its hand-breaded tenders, mac bowls and chicken-and-waffles to the northern suburbs, along with roughly 85 local jobs that include management positions.
According to WMAR 2 News Baltimore, the Hunt Valley restaurant will officially open Feb. 23 at 11300 York Road, with Phoenix Foods LLC projecting about 85 hires. The station also notes that Slim Chickens already has Maryland locations in Gambrills, Bowie, California and Clinton, so Hunt Valley is joining an established regional flock.
What to Expect Inside
Slim Chickens' site currently lists the York Road address as coming soon, but the brand is not exactly shy about what it plans to serve. The menu centers on made-to-order tenders, wings, mac bowls and chicken & waffles, with Southern-leaning sides like fried okra. The chain highlights its house-made sauces and jarred desserts as signatures that helped it grow beyond its Arkansas roots, so regulars at other Maryland locations should feel right at home with the Hunt Valley lineup.
Who Is Opening the Store
Industry reporting shows the Hunt Valley restaurant is part of a larger Phoenix Foods LLC expansion in the state. Phoenix Foods signed a deal to open multiple Slim Chickens locations in Maryland, and Baltimore-based franchisee Brad Hoag is listed as the operating owner, according to REBusinessOnline. As with most franchise setups, the local operator is expected to handle hiring, training and day-to-day operations.
Expect hiring notices and shift details to surface in the days leading up to the Feb. 23 opening as the team staffs up. Local residents can keep an eye on the chain's website and regional job boards for postings ahead of the ribbon cutting.
