
The Huntersville Fire Department announced a scheduled prescribed burn at Latta Nature Preserve, conducted by Mecklenburg County Natural Resources staff. The controlled burn began around 12:30 p.m. and may affect air quality in downwind areas for 2–3 hours.
According to the Huntersville Fire Department, Officials advised anyone sensitive to smoke to stay indoors or avoid heavily affected areas. Prescribed burns help reduce wildfire risk, promote biodiversity, and maintain ecosystem health.
