The Jacksonville Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) is seeking residents with an interest in the arts to join its Public Art Advisory Committee (PAAC). According to the City of Jacksonville Beach, the committee advises on the development, placement, and promotion of public art within the CRA district, influencing how Jacksonville Beach’s creativity is presented and experienced.
Residents of Jacksonville Beach or owners of local, art-focused businesses are encouraged to apply, particularly those with professional experience in areas such as visual arts, curation, architecture, education, fabrication, or collecting. Committee members review artist proposals and serve as a jury for art selection, offering creative and technical guidance to ensure the work reflects Jacksonville Beach’s character and vision, though the CRA retains final decision-making authority.
The PAAC consists of five voting members who are dedicated to both the arts and Jacksonville Beach. Members serve four-year terms as volunteers, meeting regularly to review and discuss public artworks, contributing their expertise to shape the city’s visual and cultural identity.
For those interested in public art and its impact on community identity, this is a unique opportunity to help shape Jacksonville Beach’s artistic landscape. The application deadline has been extended to February 20, giving potential candidates additional time to join a committee that contributes to the city’s cultural and historical fabric.
For more information about the Public Art Advisory Committee and to apply before the 12:00 p.m. deadline on February 20, visit the City of Jacksonville Beach website for details and the application form.
