A late-night scooter ride on Jacksonville’s Westside turned fatal yesterday when a woman riding an electric scooter was struck by a southbound vehicle on the 6300 block of Jammes Road, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. The crash occurred around 9:20 p.m., and emergency crews pronounced the rider dead at the scene. Police say the driver fled without stopping.
First Coast News reports the collision happened on Feb. 12 and is being counted as the 23rd traffic fatality in Duval County this year. The outlet notes the vehicle, which was also heading southbound, struck the scooter and that investigators were still working to identify whoever was behind the wheel.

Part of a Worrying Local Pattern
The Jammes Road case lands in the middle of a troubling run of scooter and e-bike crashes across Northeast Florida. Local coverage has highlighted earlier deadly and serious hit-and-run incidents, including a man killed while riding a scooter on Moncrief Road in June 2025 and a January 2026 Oakleaf crash that injured two children, where investigators again turned to the public for help and video evidence. Those cases were detailed by Action News Jax and News4JAX.
Anyone with information about Thursday night’s Jammes Road crash, including photos, video or details that might help identify the vehicle or driver, is asked to contact the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office at 904-630-0500 or leave an anonymous tip with First Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS. The investigation remains active, and no arrests had been announced.
