The Kannapolis Youth Council is on the lookout for new members. If you're a high-schooler in grades 9-12, come this fall, and you reside within the Kannapolis City limits, you might want to listen up. Applications are now open for the 2026-2027 season, with a deadline of 5 p.m., March 20, as per a City of Kannapolis recent announcement.
According to the council, their mission is to mold young leaders through active engagement. They are promoting voluntary service, leadership training, and communication skills. One must live in Kannapolis City to get involved, so if you're outside those borders, this isn't for you. However, the Council isn't picky about the kind of school its applicants attend — public, home, charter, or private students are all welcome.
The Kannapolis Youth Council meets once a month, with additional community service projects typically held one weekend each month. Students can develop leadership and communication skills while engaging with city leaders.
