Late Tuesday in southwest Houston, a man in his 20s was found shot and collapsed near a row of dumpsters off Club Creek Drive, just south of Beechnut, according to Houston police. Witnesses told officers they heard gunshots, and the victim apparently managed to walk into a nearby parking lot before going down. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where authorities said he is expected to survive.
According to ABC13, the shooting happened at about 11:43 p.m. Officers arrived to find the man with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. Police told the station that only one person in the area reported hearing the gunfire. Investigators say they do not yet have a suspect description, and the case is still under investigation.
Club Creek Corridor Has A Recent Track Record
The stretch of Club Creek Drive near Beechnut has seen serious trouble before, including a fatal shooting at 10000 Club Creek Drive in July 2024, according to the City of Houston newsroom. That history has kept the corridor under closer scrutiny from law enforcement and neighbors, who are watching yet another crime scene unfold in the same pocket of southwest Houston.
Police Ask Witnesses To Come Forward
As reported by FOX 26, Houston Police Department investigators are asking anyone who knows anything about the shooting to contact the Major Assaults Division at 713-308-8800 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. Detectives are still processing the scene and working the few leads they have, hoping someone in the area speaks up about what happened before the gunfire went quiet.
