The Leesburg Police Department has confirmed the arrest of both persons of interest related to the shooting death of 18-year-old Juan Gomez Jr. in Berry Park last December. According to police, the U.S. Marshals Service apprehended D'Yuntre Wright yesterday morning. ClickOrlando reports that after his arrest, Wright was interviewed by Leesburg detectives at the Orange County Jail.
Previously, on February 5, James Fenderson IV was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force, as determined by the investigation into the fatal shooting incident that transpired before 1 p.m. at the park. Found inside a vehicle with at least one gunshot wound, Gomez was pronounced dead at the scene by the Leesburg Fire Department, despite their rapid response which a detailed release is promised by the police department "when all appropriate evidence is compiled."
In a related update shared by WESH, it is noted that after Fenderson's arrest earlier this month, Wright was encouraged to turn himself in to the Leesburg Police Department. Following this encouragement, Wright's apprehension occurred without further incident.
