Little Prague European Bakery has quietly slipped back into Morgan Junction, once again filling a familiar spot on California Avenue with the smell of fresh Czech pastries. Kolaches, strudels and other favorites were back in the display cases on Sunday, according to neighbors and reader photos, and staff told visitors they had just reopened earlier that day. For now, the shop is still easing back into operations and is not yet running at full capacity.
As reported by West Seattle Blog, reader Alan shared photos from the scene and said an employee confirmed the reopening and noted that some items were already available. Staff told the blog they hoped to be “back up to full speed” within a few days.
A familiar fixture returns
Little Prague has long roots as a family-run Czech bakehouse and has been a neighborhood fixture for years. It expanded beyond West Seattle in 2022 with a second location in Ballard, according to My Ballard, and the bakery’s own site continues to list its menu, hours and contact details.
Short-lived replacement last year
The California Avenue storefront briefly changed identities late last year, when posters for The Home Skillit appeared in the window, according to West Seattle Blog. That concept did not last long, and Little Prague has now moved back into the same space.
What to expect
West Seattle Blog’s reader account quoted staff saying they are “not back up to full speed yet” but are aiming to be fully up and running within the next few days. For the latest on hours and what is currently coming out of the oven, the bakery’s website has up-to-date details and a contact number.
