Chicago police have charged 48-year-old Octavio Garcia in a Little Village stabbing that authorities say left a man with severe injuries in late November.
Investigators allege Garcia stabbed the victim on Nov. 27 in the 2800 block of South Kedvale Avenue in the Southwest Side neighborhood. The man was described as “seriously injured,” and police say the wounds were severe.
Garcia now faces a slate of felony counts, including attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
The reported attack is the latest in a string of violent incidents in Little Village, a community that has seen several stabbings and shootings in recent months. In December, a stabbing call turned shooting just a few blocks away, highlighting ongoing public-safety concerns among residents.
Charges and court date
Garcia was formally booked on charges that include attempted first-degree murder and multiple counts of aggravated battery, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. He is scheduled to appear in court for a bond hearing on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026.
Garcia remains presumed innocent unless and until he is proven guilty in court. The case is expected to move through arraignment and additional hearings as detectives continue their investigation into the November stabbing.
